The good and the bad

So, what's new this weekend?

Bad news
I just found out I will be losing my job within the next few months
Good news
I still have my job for the next month or two

Bad news
If the weather forecast is to be believed, 9000 runners will be wading through the streets of Long Branch on Sunday in the pouring rain
My cheering team (the in-laws) excused themselves from the race due to poor weather conditions. The only family fanfare I can now expect is a drenched and dripping DH...

Good news
...He will be yelling and whistling all the same, awesome guy that he is!
Due to wet weather conditions, rest room breaks will not be required

Bad news
My mother-in-law took a long, hard look at me today and said I looked like I had gained a few pounds (grrr! Carb-loading...I hate you!)
Good news
There is none in this area!

Bonus:
- I signed up for the NYC Half Marathon in August. It's not like me to sign up for a second race, before completing the first, but Ken is running and so are a lot of others from the club; and any race in NYC has got to be fun. I felt a wave of adrenaline rush through me as the confirmation came through. Ah...that's just what I need right now!

Good luck to everyone who is racing this weekend. Look forward to juicy Race Reports!

That is bad news indeed! I am sorry to hear about the job.

And what's up with people not showing up to cheer you on because of a bit of rain!?

sorry about your job :(

Good luck this weekend in the half, too bad you won't have as much family as you were hoping for there, but you'll do awesome! Can't wait to hear about it!

Sorry about the job. I'm really impressed that you thought of positive sides to most of these things.

And in regards to carbo-loading weight loss, the up-side is that you will run an awesome race from all those yummy carbs you've been loading. Your in-laws don't seem to get running (no spectating in the rain? commenting on weight loss?) at all. LAME!

I'm so sorry about your job situation.

Good luck this weekend! That is too bad about your spectators, but I hope you have a great race dispite the rain. You will do great and feel even prouder of yourself.

you should kick the in-laws off your cheering team...a little rain never hurt anyone, and YOU are the one running in it...maybe they need to borrow an umbrella or parka....

sorry to hear about the job...keep your head up....

run well this weekend...

You have a great attitude....it really counts during difficult times!!! It is how you look at life - whether the glass is half full or half empty..and keep going with this right attitude. All the best
