Taper's coming along as planned.

Running
Monday: 5 miles (even at 6 pm, it was blazing hot)
Wednesday: 4 miles

Cross training
Nada

Don't know why...I never do any cross training the week of a 1/2 or full marathon...do you?

Another issue with tapering is, my food consumption does not taper at all....I'm in full-fledged carb-load mode.

Tagged! by Heather at Junk Miles.

Let's see:

8 things I am looking forward to:
- Hiking with friends this spring and summer

- Long Branch half marathon, 3 days from now

- A fall marathon (have not picked one yet)

- Hill training (yes, I am actually looking forward to it. Facing my fears head on, if you will!)

- A vacation in the next couple of months (gosh, I am so useless...I have not even picked a vacation spot. Hawaii will be nice, so will Peru, Brazil, or Madagascar...*sigh* there I go again!)

- A new Garmin (DH can't take the hint, so I am buying myself one this year!)

- Exploring nature in NJ (sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Nature in NJ? Where's that? I assure you...it exists! And I am on a mission to discover and enjoy the forests and nature trails in NJ, wherever they may be)

- Discovering new cuisines (Ken and Alberto from the running club came up with this awesome idea to get a group together and try various restaurants. Being a foodie, I am thrilled with the idea)

8 things I did yesterday:
- Watched American Idol (that Adam Lambert is freakishly talented!)
- Polished off a massive chocolate chip muffin, among other things, at work. Groan! Why don't people stop bringing food to work!
- Other than work, stop-and-go traffic on the way to work and 3 solid meals, there's nothing else worth mentioning. (Didn't realize what a boring life I lead. There go my chances of being roped into a reality show about my life!)

8 things I would like to do:
- Qualify for the Boston Marathon (even if I do it when I'm 80, it will be worth it!)
- An adventure race (if I can build up the courage)
- Travel (too many places to mention)
- Learn to surf, water ski and skydive (man, I have colorful dreams, don't I?)
- A triathlon
- Write a book (well, to be perfectly honest, I'd like to write many books)
- Live on a mountain, by a river or waterfall (my head's full of Narnia!)
- Own a bookstore (I stole this one from you, Heather, but I've wanted to do this since I watched You've got mail)

8 shows I watch (hmm...some of them are old ones...I should stop watching reruns!)
The Office (not too regularly)
2 1/2 men
American Idol (yup...I admit)
Fringe (just started watching)
King of Queens (I shamelessly watch reruns)
Friends (reruns again!)
According to Jim
House Hunters

Now that I've spilled my guts, I'd love to hear random stuff about you too. So, consider yourselves tagged.

I'm not running a half or full marathon, but I understand not doing cross-training the week of a race! My friend asked if I wanted to try spinning this week, and I'm like, ehhh, maybe not!

Good luck!! :)

I would love to own a bookstore too, just like You've got mail!

I start carb loading as soon as I start training and just increase it from there.

Good luck this weekend.

You should totally do an adventure race!!

There's a local-ish race in October that's advertised as great for AR newbies... come on down :)

cool lists! I can't wait to read about your hills training...we don't have many hills around my house but I'd love to give it a try

I've thrown some swimming into the mix this week - I hope that's not a bad taper thing! I think tomorrow & Friday will be light yoga days.

What pace are you lining up for on Sunday? I'm thinking of starting off with the 4:30 group to force myself to start off slow (made that mistake already).

Good luck this weekend! :D thanks for the comment tonight btw. appreciate it.

Mel, no probs, girl. I think you're amazing!

Joy, I am thinking of lining up with 3:50 (if I'm feeling the dare-devil on Sunday, maybe even 3:40...eek!). But that's for the half. For the full, it would be a whole other story!

Abby, the adventure race idea came from you! The race sounds really interesting...I may seriously consider doing it!

Thanks for visiting!

Best wishes on your upcoming half marathon!

Owning a bookshop must be great. The best thing would be that you would be expected to have read a great number of the books you sell. That sounds like reading for your money!

Have a great time at the race!

ugh i hate the over-eating feeling of tapering! but alas, it is still important. sigh.

I would love to own a book store too! I can sit in Borders and Barnes and Noble for hours.

I also agree Adam Lambert is freakishly talented!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stop watching Friends. And I ate a giant muffin yesterday too, so don't feel bad! :) Good luck at the race.

I don't do much cross training the week of a full marathon, either. Really nothing much for the 1-2 days before.

Although, one of the girls I traveled to Boston with went down and lifted weights at 9pm the night before the marathon. Freak!

I'm an AI addict too. I really think the last 4 left are all very talented and it will be hard to decide who stays and who goes. Good luck on your half marathon this weekend! I actually planned to do this one a couple of years ago but then there was a death in the family and my training fell off. Hope the weather is better than here! I'm guessing the nature areas in NJ have to be somewhere north in the state since I've been from one end to the other and can't think of any other areas that aren't beaches, marshy areas, or busy towns.

The office is my favorite show and I am also looking forward to hiking this summer.loved all your "to-do's" and it sounds very interesting. Good luck on your half marathon and I think you will be amazing. can't wait to hear all about it.

How about Philly for your fall marathon??

I Run for Fun said...

Vickie, not too many nature areas in NJ, I admit...but I am going through it with a toothcomb, so hopefully, I'll find some!

Tammy, lifting weights the night before a race? WTF? Was she human?

Denise, I am thinking about Philly, it's definitely on my list. But I've heard there are hills involved, so I'll have to get my hill training in, first.

I am oddly addicted to House Hunters. I can't shake it!

Owning a bookstore would be awesome! Great lists!

Good luck with the final days of tapering!
