Meanwhile, there's been a slight set-back in my running routine. At the gym, I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill on Monday. Hoping to make it to the BodyWorks class immediately after, I recklessly cranked up the speed and ran 9 minute-miles. I did make it to the class for an hour of solid core work and weights, but after the workout, the tendonitis in my left foot started acting up some. I am not in pain, but the area from shin to top of the foot feels sore. I gave it some RICE and TLC yesterday.
Today was my scheduled long run - 12 miles. Instead, I tried a slow 3-miler. No pain, but the soreness still bothers me. I usually don't chicken out on long runs...but knowing how the injury developed the last time, I feel I'd rather be extra cautious.
Tomorrow, 12 miles is on the cards...but only if my poor foot can handle it.
So, I'm back to being slow as molasses again! Run Faster from the 5K to the Marathon...I've never needed you more!!!
