Venting

My shoulders, hips and thighs are recovering from an over-enthusiastic BodyWorks class yesterday and an anticipated snow storm has forced us to postpone our weekend skiing trip and stew at home, so I believe some good-natured venting is in order.

Just as I was warming up to the treadmill idea, our gym got so packed that they started enforcing the '20-minutes only on each equipment if people are waiting' rule! 20 minutes on the treadmill??? I warm up by walking for 5 minutes...so that leaves me 15 minutes of running. Even less if I want to cool down for a few minutes. The only way to avoid this is to get my workout in at 5 am...and while I may be crazy enough to wake up at 4:30 and brave the cold and dark to get my run in before work, 5 am in a warm and stuffy gym sounds beyond brutal to me!

I've managed to avoid the gym police the past couple of days, but this new rule has confirmed it: I need to take my running outside as soon as possible. So, if the next week of treadmill running goes off smoothly, and I manage to stay pain-free, I am going back to familiar territory - the sidewalks of my neighborhood.

20 minutes is ridiculous. My gym has a 30 minute rule, but it really isnt enforced to vigorously.

Those 20 minute rules are ridiculous. Just need to wait a couple more weeks and all the New Years Resolutioners will drop off, and the time police will probably go away!

20 minutes in tough, I think our gym is 30, but I don't think I've ever been there when it was busy enough to apply.

Keep dodging the police!

I hate it when gyms have time limits. I understand why they have them, it just so annoying.

20 mins? that is ridiculous. I try to go when the gym isnt as packed if I plan on getting on a treadmill, but 5am? oh man. What about 7pm? that is usually when my gym starts emptying out...

Ugh, that ridiculous 20-minute rule is one of the many reasons why I finally quit the gym and started running outdoors. That and the inevitable increase in wait time once the new year begins... damn I hate when people put "MUST GO TO THE GYM AND LOSE WEIGHT" for their new year's resolution. I am totally agreeing with your rant here!
