Musconetcong River Reservation

7 miles on Saturday at the Towpath went well, but after the run, I realized my muscles were still in recovery mode and I should have run slower. All the twinges and aches from taper days came back.
Today was a lovely day for a hike. We found another natural area in New Jersey...Musconetcong River Reservation.

Here are some pics:

We parked by the side of the road and walked about 1/2 mile on a narrow trail, marked by blue trail blazes.

The trail was probably a hundred yards or so from the road and just as we were resigned to the constant sound of traffic, it turned into the wood and finally, the sound of running water.

We came upon this bridge,

and decided to dip our feet in the cold, refreshing water, instead.

We parked ourselves by this little mini-fall for awhile, enjoying the solitude.

Surprisingly, except for one man and his handsome golden retriever, we saw no one else there.

I cannot get enough of the colors of spring.

The soreness and achiness has completely disappeared after half hour of swimming at the gym today.

Hope you had a beautiful weekend.

That trail looks beautiful! Soaking my feet in a cool stream sounds just about perfect right now - especially compared to sitting at my desk!

What great pictures!

In terms of a training plan, I've sort of followed a modified 16- week runners world plan, with four (or five) runs a week. I try to get in a speed workout (alternating intervals and tempo), a trail run, a 'whatever' run (or two), and then a long run, building in mileage every two weeks. I'm worried that it's going to be a little bit more challenging this time around, though, because of the traveling...
