Running outside

CONGRATULATIONS, STEELERS! I am not a football fan, but last night's game was awesome!

Life's been so busy with work lately. All of last week, work, as hard work is meant to do, drained all my creative juices. My blog suffered, as a result. And I've been out of touch with blog-land. I've missed it! My goal for the next day or two...poring over all of your blogs.

I had an eventful weekend.

On Friday, after an hour of cycling and 1/2 hour of swimming, DH and I had dinner at Bonefish Grill in Greenbrook. It was an on-the-spot decision, so no pics, sorry! I wish I did take pics, because everything was sooo good! DH had grilled mahi mahi with lemon butter and I abandoned fish in favor of the Fontina chop, because it sounded too delicious to pass (boneless pork chop with Fontina cheese, garlic, prosciutto & mushroom marsala wine sauce). I was bold enough to try a cosmo, but I sorely lack the sophistication of a Carrie Bradshaw, so after it went down, it was sour apple martini all evening for me.

On Saturday, I had a much-longed for facial, which ended up being pretty rough. At one point, I felt my face was being clawed apart and feasted upon by animals. OK, I exaggerate, but I left, feeling sore and thankful that it was over! More work and chores on Saturday.

We visited my cousin on Sunday and her adorable 9-month old, who is mostly entertaining and cute, and very rarely cranky...and even when he does get cranky, he is easily diverted. Why aren't all babies like that?

For the first time in 2 months, I ran outdoors on Sunday. It was sunny and in the high 30s, and I ran a very slow 3 1/2 miles, but I was so thrilled to be running. And I suddenly remembered all the things I enjoy about running outside; the cold air on my face (of course, I wouldn't have been so thankful if the temperature was sub-zero as it had been only a few days ago), trees (bare trees heavy with snow are better than no trees), crazy neighborhood dogs and friendly people. I had to tread carefully to avoid icy patches, but the important thing was, I was running!

In the interest of not overdoing it, I decided to limit my runs to alternate days. Today, I restricted myself to 45 minutes on the bike and core work; I was hoping to get a nice 4-miler in tomorrow. But as you know, nature conspires to keep you from getting too contented in life. So, snow is expected again tonight and all of tomorrow. Of course, the weather forecast could still live up to its usual flawed standards...so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Have a good week, all!

nice run outside. I ran outside on sunday for the first time in at least a month and it felt great. so much more interesting than the treadmill. I hear you about the facial - i got one a long time ago and vowed never to go back - it hurt!

Running outside is so nice - helps me deal with the long winter a little bit better. Glad you were able to get a few miles in!

Isn't it such a treat when you get to run outside in (somewhat) warm weather? I love that!

I can't wait to get outside to do some running. The temps are supposed to get above freezing, about 35-38 degrees later this week. Hopefully I can take advantage of that and sneak in a run or two outside after work before the sun sets!
