Back on track

Thanks to all of you, lovely and awe-inspiring bloggers, Runners World forumites, loungers at Runners Lounge, and Dean Karnazes (whose book 50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days I am currently reading), not to mention the adrenaline
pumping through my system from the 5K I just completed, I have kicked myself out of last week's running slump.

This does not mean I was up and ready to rock at 5 am this morning. I still needed to forcefully eject myself out of bed, in order to be out there running in the dark morning hour (once the cold air hits my face, I come to life, though). All I'm saying is the adrenaline helped. Having Dean Karnazes stare reproachfully at me from my nightstand helped. The official end of Daylight Savings Time and the early hour of semi-brightness it brought with it definitely helped. And the thought of all you serious runners, already pounding the pavement, sweat oozing out of every pore, helped immensely!!! There's my motivation.

The plan for this week is 42 miles.

Monday: 6 miles (completed)
Tuesday: 8 miles (completed)
Thursday: 8 miles
Friday: 4 miles
Saturday: 16 miles (I hope to drum up some company for this one)

Today's run was a little faster than usual. Thanks to my HR watch, I discovered that I tend to run much slower than I am capable of. But I am still building the base, so no tempo runs for now. I am going to stick to slow and easy runs (apart from the occasional adrenaline rush) till the end of December.
